PART 3.
SAY THE EXTRA.
TEXT:- MARK 10 : 46-52.
SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY:- “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘go, throw yourself into the sea’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him” Mark 11 : 23
Jesus was passing through Jericho and if you check your Bible well, this was the last time Jesus came to Jericho before His crucifixion. So, when blind Bartimaeus heard it was Jesus passing by, our text says he cried out to Jesus for mercy. I’m not actually interested in that, what caught my attention was verse 48 of our text. He was charged to keep quiet, to hold his peace, to SHUT UP, but he cried the more until Jesus noticed him and attended to him. He could have held his peace and shut up and Jesus would’ve passed forever and he would’ve remained blind, but he refused and cried out the more.
I look at our world today and I see so many Christian Teens who have decided to shut up because the world said so. We no longer tell others about our faith because we are afraid to be laughed at or scorned by our friends and peers. Our prayers to God consist of one line and no power. How can God notice us? How can we make a difference in the world if they don’t know the difference between us and them because we don’t speak out? Bartimaeus got noticed because he CRIED out louder, for you to get noticed you must speak out and go the extra in voicing your faith in God. You need to let your peers know where you stand by making a clear statement of your faith. Ultimately, let God notice you by spending time in talking to Him, and when He notices you, the cloud can only be a stepping stone to greater heights. Remember, the power of life and death lies in the tongue, so make use of it.
PRAYER POINT:- Father make my voice to be heard for You among my peers, help me to be Your witness to my generation, in Jesus name.
PART 4.
LIVE THE EXTRA.
TEXT :- GENESIS 39 :6-12
SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY: “in the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise Your Father in heaven” MATTHEW 5;16
Let’s take a look at our memory verse very well. It says “Let your light so shine…” (KJV) and, I’m wondering why did it say “Let your light shine before men…”? it is because, there has to be a manifestation, that men will take note of you, an extra that makes you stand out.
That was what Joseph exhibited in our text for today. So, the King James Version made it, “SO” to the shine. Joseph could have done what Potiphar’s wife wanted since no one would see it and, after all he wasn’t the one making the moves, she was the one chasing him. And notice that it wasn’t just once that she asked him, she continued pestering him and Josephs’ answer remained the same; I can’t do it. That’s the extra that makes the ‘So’ shine, shine more than the normal shining, the manifestation, before men.
As a Christian teen, what can you say about your life or way of living? Are you up today and down tomorrow? Are you black today and white tomorrow? Are you ‘pastor’ today and ‘chips distributor’* tomorrow? What do people say about your life as a Christian? What does God say about your life as a Christian? Many of us, we are only Christians in our houses or where people know us, once we get to where we are unknown we blend in with whatever they do there. Joseph refused to bend his standards, even though it meant going to prison for it and that’s the extra that makes the light to soooo shine. Live the extra, let the way you live your life so shine that men will see it and come to repentance and your life will bring glory to God, and shine.
Prayer Point:- Father, make my life to be a representation of Your own life, here on earth, that men will see You living through me, in Jesus name
